Not long to go now until Christmas. Some of you may think that’s great, having already done most of their Christmas shopping, ready to be wrapped up and hidden at the back of the cupboard. Whilst others, including myself, may fall into a state of panic when thinking about Christmas shopping. My typical scenario is that I get a few presents throughout the year, but then do the bulk of my shopping on 23rd December, if I am lucky - 24th more likely…
But this dark period in my life ended when I discovered London’s amazing Christmas markets. The festive events start as early as November, which gives you enough time to get presents time and you can get all your Christmas shopping done under one roof. I found some amazing independent brands selling unique products, which you won’t find on the High Street, that are cherished by friends and family.
Here is a selection of my favourite London Christmas fairs.
Whether you are looking for festive ideas and inspiration, fine food and wine, or simply to shop and hang out with friends, you can treat yourself to a unique and wonderful day out at the Spirit of Christmas Fair from 2-8 November in Kensington Olympia.
We will be there, with a selection of our best-selling cushions and accessories, so come and say hello. We are located at stand GH35, opposite the House & Garden theatre on the upper level.
THE RUGBY PORTOBELLO TRUST CHRISTMAS FAIR
The RPT will be hosting it's 26th annual Christmas Market on 17 and 18 November. It is always great for the festive spirit and present buying and a great way to support one of their amazing local youth charities.
Hyper Japan is a fusion between the British and Japanese culture based in East London’s Tobacco Dock, running from the 27 to 29 November. This unusual Christmas fair offers an insight into Japanese customs, recreating traditional Japanese food and culture. The Christmas market at Hyper Japan is a must see, to discover out how it would be living in Japan for a day; is is a great way to meet new people and find unique and unusual gifts all under one roof.
The South Bank Christmas fair is almost as good as being at the North Pole! The general atmosphere and decoration provide pure Christmas bliss, happiness, and joy. There is a selection of stalls offering creative picks, such as fake snow and traditional food all the way from Germany! The street is transformed into a magical theme, making you feel like you are in a scene from Frozen!
East London’s Winterville is the ultimate must see this year! It has all you need for a mini Christmas holiday in one location. The offer includes a circus, an ice skating rink, cinema, Spiegeltent, which offers alternative performances from cabaret to live music, club nights and much more. Perfect for entertaining the whole family.
And for those who don’t live in London, either book a trip here to visit our amazing Christmas fairs or if you are too busy, check your local listings for fairs and markets in your area. Many cities all over the world now host amazing Christmas events, where you can find some unique gifts for your loved ones, whilst enjoying some locally produced food and a glass of mulled wine.
