October: Kids Room

October: Kids Room

This month is dedicated to all the Mums and Dads out there. I am the proud mother of two and as much as I love colouring, frequent visits to the play ground, junk-modelling and cupcake baking, I also love decorating the kid’s rooms! Being a dedicated Mummy doesn’t hold me back giving the kid’s rooms the style treatment I apply to the rest of my house. Some of my friends were not sure when I decided to go against the s0-typical kid's room colours schemes of baby blue and pink and choose a tranquil combination of warm sandy beige and crisp white for my kids’ room. This colour scheme is perfect if you are a colour lover as you can go wild adding bright and vibrant colours. And I promise it won’t look tacky. I also love involving the kids into the design process of their room (obviously, Mummy has the last word!!!). Mine came back with some great ideas. We added a gallery wall where they can display their artwork in colourful frames and we have regular Vernissages, when they decide to change the display. And my six-year-old son recently had the great idea of painting the ceiling of his room in bold yellow block stripes! I love it! But in the end, the kid’s room is still a room where the kids can play, welcome their friends on playdates and have a good nights sleep. It is their own space. So when my daughter decided to add her own artwork to my freshly painted beige walls, I took it with a smile. Have a look at some of the great rooms we found for you later this month. I LOVE them and maybe you find some inspiration for your next kids’ room make-over.
